| Position curtain rod about 1 inch below the top of the window frame
to allow for the header of the curtain. Decide where you want the curtains to
fall: Window Sill, Apron, Base-board or Floor. back

| Measuring |
Always use a wood or metal ruler to measure the length
and width. |
Length
|
Now, measure in inches from the top of the rod to your chosen length. Order the
closest length offered. If you'll be using decorative rods such as caf?rods
with rings, measure from the bottom of the hooks. |
Width |
Next, measure the length of the curtain rod and the distance the rod projects
from the wall on both sides. Multiply total width by 1 1/2 to 2 to obtain the
curtain width needed. |

All curtains come with complete instructions.

Pole-Top Panels or Rod-Pocket Curtains
|
|
|
Multiply the rod length by 1 1/2 to obtain the panel width or how many panels
are needed. If you are using tie-backs and want to achieve a fuller look,
multiply the rod length by 2.
back to top To achieve a fuller look with opaque fabric curtains, measure
1.5 to 2.5 times the rod width. For sheer or semi-sheer and lace curtains,
which require more fullness for privacy, measure 2 to 3 times the rod width.
|
Balloon Shades
|
Balloon shades should be used singularly. Balloon shades are made with a
minimal amount of fullness for the most attractive look and ease of operation.
Width should be obtained by multiplying rod length by 1 1/2 |
Door Panels
|
Door panels are generally used singularly. Measure door length from the top of
the upper rod to the bottom of the lower rod. For width, measure the rod from
inside the brackets. You need 1 1/2 to 2 times the rod width, depending on the
fullness desired. |
Swag And Valance Sets |
|
|
Use approximately 2 times your rod width and shirr on the appropriate rod.
Measure from the top of rod to the desired length and order the closest
available size. For windows wider than 60", add insert valance(s). |
Pleated Jabots And Crescents
|
|
|
Pleated jabots are usually 24" wide and require no shirring. Matching
pleated crescents usually measure 33" in width and approximately 16"
in depth. These treatments require a double or triple rod set. Use single
crescents and jabots on 28" to 45" wide windows. Use double (or
triple) crescents and jabots on 45" to 75" wide windows. For windows
wider than 75", add an extra crescent. |
Tab Curtains |
Tab Curtains can be used singularly or in multiples, depending on the area to
be covered and the desired look. Multiply rod length by 1 to 2 times. Since Tab
Curtains are made to be used with decorative hardware, the total number of
panels used should allow the hardware to show. |

Horizontal Blinds/Pleated Shades
|
| Inside Mount
|
You must have at least 1" of flat surface on inside casing for brackets.
Measure width (W) between bracket location--top, middle and bottom. Use
narrowest measurement. Measure length (L) from top inside casing to sill. |
Outside Mount
|
If there is less than 1" flat surface on inside casing, measure width (W)
of area to be covered. Measurement must overlap window by at least 1
1/2"on each side. Measure length (L) from at least 3" above window to
bottom sill. If there isn't a bottom sill, add 1 1/2". |
| |
Vertical Blinds
|
| Outside Mount Only |
Length |
Measure length of area to be covered at place where the track will be installed
to the next smaller 1/6". Blind should be at least 2" above and
1" below window opening. For ceiling to floor installations, allow for
carpet. |
Width |
Measure width of area to be covered at place where the track will be installed
to the next smaller 1/6"linds should overlap window opening at least
3" on each side. |
